Rotaract of Citrus County began in November 2006 as Cliff Pierson, then President of Crystal River Rotary and District Rotaract Chair, started an initiative in his club to create the sixth Rotary club in the county. Because Citrus County had no outlet for young professionals to meet and grow as individuals, Rotaract was an instant success.

Chartered in February 2007 with more than 20 members, the club has hit the ground running.Within the club's first few months, they participated in a needy children's shopping day with the CR Rotary Club, to raising funds of their own to donate to the Family Resource Center for the holidays to helping out at the Martin Luther King Day parade.

And by month 3 the club had hit a success with the first annual Kick For a Cause kickball tournament to benefit the Foster Parents Association of Citrus County.  The tournament had 16 teams over a hundred participants and raised over $3,000. And, members learned how to plan and carry out a major event in the process.
